BOTTOMS UP: A Toast to Wisconsin's Historic Bars & Breweries

Annual Meeting May 4th 2PM

Jim Draeger has been invited to come to the Dean House and give a PowerPoint presentation about his adventures researching his book on historic bars and breweries in Wisconsin. He will tell us how Wisconsin came to dominate the brewing industry and the place that bars and beer hold in our social and cultural history.

Jim Draeger is an architectural historian and the State Historic Preservation Officer at the Wisconsin Historical Society with more than twenty-five years of historic preservation experience. From roadside architecture to Northwoods resorts, Draeger celebrates the importance of ordinary buildings in our daily lives through his research, writing, and lectures.

6th Annual Garage Sale May 16 & 17

Our participation in the Monona City-Wide Garage Sale has gotten bigger and better every year. We have already collected many items for this year's sale highlighted by a significant donation from Ross & Penny DePaola. Barb Essock is going to donate some of her wonderful paintings and Doris & Bill Brendler have been raising baby house plants all winter for the sale. But that doesn't mean that you can't contribute! We can always use more items including vintage clothing. The only restrictiions on donations are -- no large pieces of furniture, appliances or TVs.

You can drop off your items on the back porch of the Dean House beginning Monday May 12th. If you need help getting your items to the Dean House or have questions call Judith Bodden 222-6831.

We will need volunteers at the Dean House on Thursday May 15th to price and arrange items for the sale and sales people on Friday and Saturday. If you can help, just drop in and offer your services.
