Lichtfeld Restoration Effort
Two-in-one Model 12 Lichtfeld Plumbing Truck

If you have not engaged Dick Lichtfeld (and family) in the details of all the hours, helpers, and pleasures of their history- hobby- collections, you are missing a great experience. Their efforts are way too much for one short article! However...

In addition to the two 1916 Peerless cars and others, our Labor Day Old Car Rides at the Dean House this year featured the recently restored Two-in-one Model 12 Lichtfeld Plumbing Truck.

The following excerpts are from an original ad from the Maytag-Mason Motor Company of Waterloo, Iowa

Model "12" as a Pleasure Car $1150.00

Model 12 as a Business Car $1175.00

1909 Model 12 Two-in-one $1250.00 complete

Dick Litchtfeld and his Two-in-one
Hess Plaque
Volume 35, No. 2          December, 2007

(original ad continued)

  • Weight-1300 pounds
  • Capacity-1000 pounds
  • Speeds-two forward and reverse
  • Speed-Five to thirty miles an hour on high gear
  • Drive-Off Center chain drive. (Chain entirely enclosed.)

It affords us great satisfaction to herewith present to the merchant our famous "Two-in-one" car. No feature has been slighted to make this the real value of the automobile world. We pride ourselves that this Maytag model, embraces all that is modern. It is strong, durable, the most simple on the market, and is ready at all times, without the aid of an expert, to perform its double duty of pleasure and business...that can, in twenty minutes be converted into a powerful light delivery....

The busy Lichtfeld Plumbing Shop carries on the family business and takes you on a "ride" through history in more than one way.

Christmas Open House

Have you noticed how quickly the time flies? It seems as though we just completed our Back Porch Concerts and the Ice Cream Social, and here we are talking about our Christmas Open House already.

Yes, that is coming up on December 9th from 1-4 p.m.

The Dean House will be beautifully decorated and we will have cider and cookies for you. Lovely music will be heard throughout the afternoon, so mark the date on your calendar.

Bring your family and friends for a festive day, and enjoy a tour of the Dean House.
