Blooming Grove Town Hall Artifacts

photo of basement

The two parts are back together again. In 1967 when the town hall came down, young Greg Phillips came home with the left half of the "Town Hall 1871" and an iron star in his wagon from the wreckage of the building. We have had the right half for years.

Mystery Metal Star

The metal star artifact donated by the Phillips' family was thought to have been at the peak above the date on the Blooming Grove Town Hall. The pictures we have show no evidence of the star. Does anyone have any memory of where it was located or an early picture showing the star on the 1871 Town Hall?

Dean House Herb Garden

Our newest Monday morning volunteer Patrik (Doc) VanderVelden has cleaned up the southwest side of the Dean House. He spaded an area and enclosed it with bricks. If you have traditional and fragrant herbs you want to put in this little garden, it is ready to weather permits. What favorite 19th century herbs do you suggest?

Annual Mtg.Membership Renewal

Please fill out the enclosed membership and volunteer form that folds into an envelope.

Thank You Gerald & Doris Phillips

Gerald and Doris Phillips have had the two Blooming Grove Town Hall artifacts saved for us in their basement since 1967 when the building was torn down. (see picture left column)
